Our Story
Exquisite Handpicked Pearls
The pearls we use for our fine jewellery have been individually handpicked from the South Pacific, Tahiti and Japan. We choose only pearls that exhibit superior lustre, shape, size, colour and clarity. Our experts also pay particular attention to nacre
thickness and uniformity to ensure specimens that are near-flawless.
Cultured pearls are gifts from nature. These come in various shapes, including the common round form. Uniformity is of the utmost importance. Our craftsmen carefully choose pearls according to their colour, shape, lustre and size for every piece of jewellery – ensuring a breathtaking sense of harmony. Finding pearls that complement each other is a demanding task, but the rare beauty of a perfectly matched string of pearls is truly worth the effort.

Special Care for Your Pearl Jewellery
Because pearl is an organic gem comprised of calcium carbonate, pearls require more specialized care than other precious gems. Please refer to the following guidelines for your pearl jewellery maintenance:
- Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth and let your pearl jewellery dry thoroughly after each usage. Avoid cleaning with soap water, jewellery cleaning solutions or hot water.
- Most of Chow Sang Sang’s pearl strands are strung on silk-cotton beading threads. Over time, the thread will stretch, become weakened and soiled. If you wear your pearls regularly, we encourage you to bring your pearl jewellery to our shop and have your pearls cleaned and restrung professionally once a year.
- Keep your pearls away from any sharp or hard objects, which may damage their delicate surface.
- Pearl is an organic substance. It may lose brilliance when it is in contact with chemicals such as perfumes, cosmetics, acidic solutions or cleaning sprays. Do not wear it when bathing or swimming.
- Avoid storing pearl jewellery under direct sunlight,or environments with extreme temperature and humidity levels, as this mayalter the colour of the pearls or diminish their brilliance.
- At the time of purchase, all Chow Sang Sang jewellery is wrapped in a protective box, case or lined pouch. We recommend that you store it in its original case or another suitably lined box or pouch after each usage.
Care for Your Fine Jewellery
Fine jewellery is a valuable gift from nature; thus, it requires vigilant care to ensure its timeless quality. Thus, we would like to recommend the following measures on jewellery maintenance:
- Professional cleaning at least once a year is recommended.
- Do not wear jewellery when doing exercise, housework or sleeping. Impact against hard surfaces may damage the setting and cause the gem to fall out, or may deform its shape, especially for jewellery with complicated structures or hollow designs. Stop wearing it if the gem set is found loose.
- Perfumes, cosmetics, household chemicals, detergents and even chlorinated pool water can damage your jewellery. Prevent your jewellery from coming into contact with these chemicals.
- Avoid wearing jewellery made of different metals simultaneously since this may cause scratches or colour alterations.
- To prevent knotting, close the clasps of chains before placing them into your jewellery box.
- The colour of precious metals may alter when exposed to high temperature and damp environment. If such circumstance is encountered, please bring your jewellery to our store for inspection and cleaning.
- To prevent wear and tear, or abrasion with other jewellery, store jewellery in a fabric-lined pouch or box with separate compartments. At the time of purchase, all Chow Sang Sang jewellery is wrapped in a protective box, case or lined pouch. We recommend that you store it in its original case or another suitably lined box or pouch after each usage.
