Where Light Begins
Light begins with an idea.
Rooted in Eastern philosophy and the rhythms of nature, Chow Sang Sang transforms reflections on life into jewellery.
Where Light Begins unfolds through six perspectives on life: Fluidity, Breakthrough, Confluence, Evolution, Resonance and Balance.
Expressed through jewellery and realised through craftsmanship, these perspectives take material form.
As you move through these realms of light and shadow, may you discover not only the beauty of these creations on view, but also the light that begins within.

V&A
Birth
The V&A collection holds a 19th-century chatelaine adorned with an egg-shaped motif - a symbol that has long been associated with fertility and family legacy. Once worn as a personal adornment, the chatelaine reflects the delicate artistry of Western decorative craft.
Inspired by this heritage, Chow Sang Sang presents a contemporary work centred on the theme of new life, fusing Western decorative arts with Eastern gold mastery. Sculpted from over 500 grams of pure gold, this piece embodies over 300 hours of painstaking craftsmanship. Layered black enamel forms the canvas for hand-engraved floral motifs, meticulously framed with micro-set diamonds.
Once a discreet embellishment nestled within a chatelaine, the egg is reimagined as a magnificent collector's objet d'art, celebrating the enduring promise of life and the beauty of new beginnings.

Crowning Achievement
Among the 3,000-plus works on display in the V&A's William and Judith Bollinger Gallery, Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond coronet holds a special place. Designed by Prince Albert as a personal wedding gift, the jewel marked the beginning of their married life and remained a cherished part of Victoria's story through the years that followed. More than a royal ornament, it evokes a lifetime of love, personal growth and historic milestones.
Reimagining this royal legacy under the theme of Achievement, Chow Sang Sang translates sovereign heritage into a wearable masterpiece of contemporary elegance. The creation features 28 rare, collection-grade 'Royal Blue' sapphires totalling 102 carats, emerald-cut to reveal unblemished purity and framed by intricate hand-engraving that outlines its majestic profile.
Once a symbol of sovereign glory, the coronet is transformed into a tribute to confidence and excellence - crowning every peak of an extraordinary life.
YuYu
Gentle ripples spread across the water as fish glide in unison.
The warmth of gold, enhanced by a delicate sand-blasted finish, meets the brilliance of diamonds and the iridescence of mother-of-pearl in a subtle interplay of light and texture. Together, they capture the shimmering movement of water in motion.
